Mechanical or electrical gauges?
Advantages I can see for mechanical gauge would be:
1. Will read even when power is off (tranny & oil temp)
2. Is not subject to blowing fuses or short circuiting
3. Less expensive
4. Direct reading, no sending unit needed
On the other hand, electrical gauges:
1. Much easier to route wires that tubing
2. All gauges can be electrical units
Disadvantages of mechanical:
1. big mess if tubing breaks or leaks
Disadvantage of electrical:
1. Two units to troubleshoot if something is wrong (sender and gauge)
So what else can you guys add? Anyone installing gauges might find the information useful.
