I have the 86 F150 that I changed the oil to 2Qts of 5w30 Castrol GTX and 3qts of 10w-30 castrol GTX because they did not have 5qts of 10w-30. Let it drain 10 minutes and I changed the filter (FL1A) and I prefilled the new MC filter and dumped the remaining oil in the motor a total of 5 quarts. I I check it and it is acorrding to the dip stick abou 1/4" over the full line. I was told this EFI 302 should take 6-7 quarts. But he was the only reply.
I would like more than just one. I don't know if it has the wrong dip stick or what but my Chiltions also says 6qts w/filter.
How much oil does this thing take?
my 78 300 6cyl take 6 my car takes 4.5
it is puzzling me!

So I guess I will disregard the dipstick as it says full with anything over 5 I will post a picture of it when I get home. The full mark is about 1" from the bottom. Does that sound right? it could have been changed out but it does not seem to run hot 160* on a Sunpro mech gauge in 100* Texas heat in the summer and great oil pressure, it does not use any at all eather.
