I just installed headers on my truck. When I first test drove it, while I was accelerating I would hear like a clicking noise underneath me. I think it is a leak to where the headers connect to the pipe. Or could that be how headers sound in the front end?? I didnt put any silicone spray where the headers met the pipe, so that is why I think it is leaking. Help me out please
I guess you could get under it and have someone rev the engine a bit and see if you can pinpoint the leak that way. Over a matter of a short time, there will be a black spot appear where exhaust gasses are escaping. There should probably be a gasket between the header/tailpipe flange, also. You could also move your hand around the outside edge of the flange while it's running/revving and you should feel the air pressure escaping if its of any size at all.
You may need to put the truck on a rack withs it running to find any leak.
In the past people here and others have reported clicking sounds from headers and they were not leaking. I do not have any information about the cause or the fix!
