Where to get code scans?

Hi, I was wondering, what auto parts stores offer free obdII scanning of your vehicles. I have a missing '00 5.4 f250 and the service light wont come on. will this still pick up on the missing cilinder? I'm prety sure its gonna be a COP but not sure which one. Any help is appretiated

Auto Zone, will scan for free, but I think they will only pick something up if the CEL is on.

You wouldn't happen to have an electrician or HVAC tech. around? I was wondering if a Fluke VoltAlert 1AC voltage pin would tell you which one was bad. I have one and it flashes in time with the plug firing. I'm not miss firing at the present, so can't tell.

Most of the time you will only get a code when the CEL is on, so next time it comes on get to AZ before the light goes off. AutoZone now sells a ODBII code reader for $79.99
