I have a 1999 Ford Expedition XLT 4.6L. Over the weekend I put gas in the truck, and now the engine is hesitating upon acceleration. It feels like the engine is misfiring. I have no power what so ever. I am 99.9% sure it was the low grade gas i used. What should i do now? Should i keep driving it till the gas runs out??? will it damage any integral parts of the engne? What grade of gas should i use medium octtane or high (low is out of the question). The check engine light remains on all the time, with intermittent flashing. someone please help!
Try adding a bottle or two of octane booster. That should hopefully work. What is the octane rating for your low octane fuel. I run 87 octane (low) in my 00 EB with no problems. Maybe it's just the brand of fuel.
its 87 octane. I think the gas was bad. this was the first time i used this gas station. so if the gas is bad what should i do..keep running it till it finishes??
I would try the octane booster and just run it till you need more gas. I've had this happen in my 5.0L Mustang and I just added the octane booster and let it run to about 1/2 tank and then refilled with a good brand of fuel.
