Does anyone know if I can get parts to service the heater/Ac control assembly for my '76? The vacuum switch/blend selector dropped a wheel and I'm afraid I threw it out before I realized what it was. I posted a want ad but it's getting cold and I need heat fast!
Yes, the control levers and vacuum assemblies that open/close the vents to direct airflow. From memory,... I think the top one selects temp and opens the valve on the heater hose. The lower one selects off, vent, a/c, hi/lo, heat, defrost. Not sure about the actual order of the selections but it's the lower one that lost a piece and is now not directing vacuum anywhere.
man i have that same problem, only my relay freaked out too, it just buzzes when i turn on the blower, i had to unhook then switch assembly and the relay and put a jumper wire in the plug that goes to the OFF VENT etc. and a jump wire in the relay plug,, i know its a rigged up job but i have a defroster till i can locate the correct relay and switch assembly...
Yup, I did my relay a couple of years ago, now the switch arcs and is ready for replacement too. The connector on the back of the motor speed switch is all distorted from overheating.
Thanks for the tip on NPD. I down loaded their catalog. They carry the temp. valve control and the switch but it wasn't clear from the catalog if they have the other control for airflow. I'll give them a call tomorrow.
Thanx
controls from late 80s vans work. I think you have to change the switch itself, but the rest is the same. (but with cooler graphics) I think 86-92 F-series also will work.
ID like to add a question i have a 76 F250 and my heater and ac work and all, but i want my heater to work better, the blower blows and the heater heats, but neither to my likeing, i want more heat and more air moveing what do i need to do?
I have helped put the rear air unit from a 75-91 econoline into the space behind the seat. it froze you out, or baked you out. I'm going to do this to all my crewcabs without cab tanks.
