Thanks

Hey guys:

Just wanted to say thanks to realhp and to all who had helped me gain information on replacing the pinion seal on my '00 F250.
I got the job done over this weekend and all seems to be fine. This place is awesome!! See you all around!

Hey one thing, When I took off the yoke, I did not see the crush washer that was mentioned. I did see what looked like a thin metal spacer. Could that possibly be the washer??

I checked the pinion lash by measuring the length of the exposed threads between the top of the pinion nut and the top of the pinion shaft. Figured that what was original should go back to orginal when done. All seemes fine. I will say that the fluid was freakin expensive!! I got ford' s wholesale prices and it was still $15 a quart.

The crush sleeve is behind the front pinion bearing so that is why you did not see it. As long as the nut does not come loose and the pinion preload is not too much or not enough you should be ok.
