Get a magnetic oil plug, change the oil and filter and use the new oil plug. Use a Puralator 'Pure One' or Wix filter. Change the oil several times at frequent intervals, checking the plug for metal. When the plug comes out clean, you will be OK.

I know this sounds crazy! Remove the valve covers and pour diesel down the sides of the push rods into the valley. If you want to be extra sure you can remove the intake and pour away! I have done this with seriously gunked up engines and hade good results. Be sure to removing the spark plugs after and turning over the engine to remove all the diesel. Don't forget to drain the pan!
