Stuck in 4WD?
Just got a quick quesiton for anyone who might be able to help.
I've got an 01 PSD w/ 4WD. This morning I was going out to the store at about 8 am, it was about 10 degrees out. I started the truck up and quickly found I was stuck in a patch of icy mud in my parking lot, so I threw it in 4 wheel (electronic shift). After I extricated myself from the hole, I shut the 4wd switch back to 2wheel, but the 4x4 indicator light on the dash stayed lit. I tried a couple of tight turns, and Im sure my front wheels stayed engaged. Just wondering if anyone my know why this happens? I was a little leery regarding the ESOF, I would much rather have a lever that engages/disengages...there is something about shifting into 4wheel with a **** that looks like it adjusts the radio...
. Anyways, I eventually got 4wheel to disengage, but still, its annoying problem, and I've really got no idea why its goin on. Any help is appreciated....Thanks!

You have essentially 2 different systems to engage 4-wd, a vacuum system (for the hubs) and a separate electric motor for the transfer case. Because they would both have to fail for your truck to stay in 4-wd I would suspect a problem wiht your dash switch itself rather than the downstream components.
