My SuperDuty is a 2001, I have found myself getting the itch for something new. The truck has been great and could be replaced by another one very simply, BUT, I have found myself looking at Excursions alot lately as well as
( Gulp ) Hummer H2's I am pretty sure that the Excursion would fit the bill for towing and hauling and the H2 is kinda cute but neither one are Super Dutys.
Any thoughts?? Maybe I will just wait a while and this will pass !!!
I originally had the urge for an H2, but it finally passed and I bought an Excursion...!
I have no anti-GM bias, but I finally came to the conclusion that the H2 just made me look as if I was trying a bit too hard to be cool. In my lifted X, though, I look cool without even trying...
Don't know if you're considering the Diesel Ex or not, but the gas motor in the H2 is going to cost a lot more to keep running than a PSD Ex.
All in all, I think the H2 is a little too heavy on marketing and styling, a little too light on actual utility and convenience. Just my opinion.
the H2 is the I-ROC-Z of this decade, if you are a single pro sports athlete then go with the H2 wit som 24's. if not buy what will best fit your needs.
ps. if you feel your needs truely require the capibilities of what an H2 is claimed to be, then you need a real hummer an H1, and you should buy one
I dought that I will look very cool in a white H2 but you never know, If I go with the Excursion it will be a V-10 so gas milage will be similar between the 2. There is more room in the excursion and I have read that the H2 is not that easy to see out of, not so good for towing I would think. Maybe I will just go look around this week and see what kind of deals are out there, The hitch to all this is I pass my old truck down the line at work and the SUV thing will mean I will have to stop doing that after this one, An SUV will do them no good at all!
Even the V10 will trounce the H2 on gas. My neighbor has one and averages about 7, 60/40 highway city. You'd be much better off with a suburban/yukon or of course the Excursion than a H2.
first check the insurance prices. the excursion was about $1000 more a year to insure than a superduty and i cant imagine what the H2 would be. also you might want to wait one more year when the new superduty comes out.
if you want an older superduty or excursion you'll get it at a better price
Personally I would go with the Excursion. I generally look at people that drive hummers are rich people who want be "Real 4x4 Drivers" but don't there fellow rich people to see them driving a ford, chevy, or dodge. Just my opinion.

Sorry forgot one thing. If you are worried about gas mileage and tow capacity. Why not get the 7.3L(preferred) or 6.0L diesel your gas mileage can be better in most case and tow capacity goes up too. I hope this helped

SuperDuty King - Just an FYI on the H2. It is built on a modified Tahoe chassis so under all that body is basically a Tahoe with the same pros and cons. The interior however has less room than a Honda Accord and exterior demensions are a little bit bigger than a Suburban, go figure. To me the whole H2 thing doesn't make sense. If you want a Hummer, get the real deal and get an H1 even though they only seat four due to the tunnel down the entire middle of the vehicle.
To me either an SD or an Ex you are getting more use for your money. Even though an SD or Ex are big vehicles they are small compared to an H1 or H2. You don't want anyone parking next to you in the parking lot otherwise you will not be going until they leave!!
Well, in my travels today I found a 04, HarleyDavidson CC, with the 6.0 and 4x4. Thank god it is the gray over black and not that orange over black. The dealer is very intrested in moving this truck and the foreman that would be getting my truck and is a Harley rider may just be the benafactor of Mr. Nice Guy and I will just get him the new one and keep mine for another year. Still, im going up north tomorrow and there is a ford dealer with a white Excursion Limited there, There is also a Hummer dealer with no shortage of inventory he would like to move! Maybe he will be nice enough to let me take one out on the job for a test spin??? LOL
Well, since I live in San Diego the H2's are all over the place and guess who is driving them. Stay at home mom's, picking the kids up from school in these things. They sit at traffic lights talking on the cell phones, donig make-up and what makes things worse.. They don't know a single thing about these trucks.
Most of the people that I've seen driving them are mom's. The downtown H2's not the off road version.
Well, I knew you would want to hear about my trip to the Hummer Dealer, Yeti, I know how much you like them!! LOL. Well I stoped this morning and too my suprise, they had plenty of them. I get this salesman that is regaleing me with info on how the Hummes is one of the best SUV's made and how it is far above my other choice the Excursion, and vastley superior to the truck i'm driving now. Well, after about 15 min. of this he says, how about a test drive? Well I jumped on this and tell him I'm on my way to check out a job and it is only about 10 miles from the dealer, why don't we just run on up and see how she does? He tells me he has to check with the manager and see if it's OK, well the manager comes over and asks if I would take my truck where I want to take his and I tell him, I do this every day, but if he was concerned we could pass and I would be on my way! Well, inventory being what it is and flour plan being what it is I guess he was moved to comply. He did ask if the truck did all I ask of it would we deal? I said yes we would. To make a long story shorter, we did fine on the haul roads and some slick stuff till we came to the loose stuff just cut by the dozer, one of my foreman was infront of me in his 02, F-250, ec, lb, He pulled right in and kept going on up to the belt line, We pulled in and got stuck up to the axles, no forward and no reverse, dozer time, after getting out of that mess, going back was no treat at all, It goes much better down hill then up, that is for sure. to say it was heavy mud would not be going to far but my foreman made it in and out and had to pull us up the last hill with his strap!!!!
My salesman was very subdued on the way back and I even stoped and got his truck sprayed off for him, all he said when he got out was, " You dont need a truck, you need a tank " Oh well, I loose more friends that way!! LOL
The H2 is like I said before, it has the same pros and cons as a Tahoe as that is the chassis that it is built on. They make great mall cruisers, but are nothing like the H1 that they replace.
So based on your salesman's statement, we all drive tanks!!
