i am thinking about picking up a f150 1984 and it has a strait six. can any one tell me what size the six would be. also if there is any draw backs and what kind of gas miliage would I get. thanks
Gas mileage will depend on what tranny you have, what gears are in it, and how you drive it. Your mileage will be between 12 and 19, probably.
There are no drawbacks with the straight six. You get on of the longest lasting, most durable motors ever made, you get incredible low-end torque, and bragging rights for being able to out-pull a lot of small block V8s.
One and only minor draw back, this is not a high reving engine. Don't expect to get it up around 5k and keep it there. It will tow just about anything you can hook to, but not at land speed records. It will always get you there, just closer to 55 not 80mph
