F150 Transfer Case won't shift
I have an 89 F150 with a 4 speed trans. The transfer case won't shift. I seems that it might be shifting from 2H to 4H. The "4x4" dash light comes on when I move the shifter up. It doesn't seem to "click" into gear, though. And I cannot a shift into neutral or 4L. I just don't want to try so hard to shift it that I break the shifter if sonething is wrong. Any ideas?

I tried to shift it in neutral with the clutch out and in but had no luck. I confirmed that the truck IS shifting into 4H. I took the boot apart and could see that the shifter won't move to the left to get past a block in the mechanism to keep the shifter from going into low gear inadvertently. I'm wondering if the problem might be in the shift mechanism, the transfer case internals or a sensor that keeps you from shifting while the tranny is not in neutral. Anyone have any ideas?
