Just call your local muffler shop and have them give you a bid on a cat back system. You didn't specify what type of glass packs you want. That will be important to know for them to give you a price. FlowMaster makes some nice ones that sound great.

true duals are hard to run. the tcase is in the way. a single exhaust is a much better performer. and many shops wont even run true duals because of emissions laws.

I'm with Kem on this one. While it can and has been done, two 1.5" pipes flow the same as one 3" pipe and going much bigger than that begins to reduce your fuel mileage from lost backpressure. You need the crossover pipe anyway if you are going to keep your emissions legal. Your 96 has three O2 sensors and one needs to be reading the emissions from the entire engine. Not sure how loud is "loud enough". After a certain point you just run around setting off other people's urban crickets (car alarms). Don't get me wrong, its your truck and your prerogative. I'm not saying it can't be done, just seems more trouble than its worth considering the options available with a good quality single exhaust. Check these folks out. If they cant' get you sounding like you want, chances are you are better off cutting the muffler off all together.
