A short while ago, I bought a new oil drain pan and put it in the garage. I changed the oil today, and found out there was hole in the bottom of it. Now, of course, I didn't find this out UNTIL IT WAS FULL OF MOTOR OIL and running out all over the driveway. This was the first time I used it since I bought it.
I hate meeses to pieces. After I cleaned up, I took a look at the pan. There was a 3/4" round hole in it, with little bite marks all the way around the hole. I have lots of spare electircal wire around, why couldn't they chew that up instead?
Peanut butter, the mice can't get enough of it. Set a couple of traps with the PB. Warfarin works also, but you gotta search out the body. (It dehydrates them, when they eat it).
Glue traps. Get them at Wal-mart. We use them to catch the hobo spiders and mice. One in my sons bedroom had 23 hobo spiders in less than two weeks. Another had a mouse and spiders. But make sure that your dog doesn't get it attached to them. Or let them get flipped upside down. They are hard to pull off the floor.
I found one jumping up and down like a pogo stick inside the trash can in the garage a while ago. I guess he jumped in there in the night to see if there was anything to eat, but didn't look before he leaped into the empty can and just couldn't jump high enough to get out. He musta been jumping for quite a while 'cause he seemed really out of breath.
The glue traps are the best. Don't fold em Like they instruct you to, just lay them flat. If you have a dog or cat, place a piece of dry food in the center to help intice them.
I've seen other mice try to come to the rescue an get caught themselves, as many as 4 to a trap.
Then you can take the pad and mouse, place it in a ziploc bag and toss it in the trash can outside.
Yeah I like a good trap baited with peanut butter. They can't resist the pb which is sticky and causes them to have to work at it and the trap does the rest.
I also like those bait bags that are full of bait(I think Combat?) that you can throw in likely places. But with the bait, the bodies can wind up in places and stink things up.
It is a never ending war. Where the is one mouse there are more or will be.
I once caught 4 mice in one trap within maybe 5 minutes. As soon as I would set the trap and sit down to TV, the trap would snap and I would start over.
whe have been fightin sewer rats for about 6 months now at my house i use a mechanical trap which trapes them alive and when i hear it go off i get the pellet gun and start shootin
i dont like the glue traps cause i am a HVAC tech and people put that stuff in attics and when i go to work on their unit i alway seem to get stuck with it on my clothes
mice love criso too. put some of that with peanut butter, it's like a feast to them. I kinda like peanut butter too. I always have fun with mice and traps.
I first saw the glue trap in a ceiling of a fast food place with the whole mouse family in it. I raised the ceiling tile and put my hand in the middle of it. I have not eaten there since. But they do work great.
Havent tried glue traps but the Victor trap is quite good too. Use those in the office and home. We put cheese with peanut butter and catch them all the time. The best thing is they will get caught whether alive or dead because the trap encapsulates them. I see Victor has one for Rats too.
Also you can place mothballs anywhere you don't want mice to hang out. They apparently can't stand the smell. I guess dryer sheets work also but are probably less effective. Probably a good insurance policy for a car that is in storage.
