Vibe while sitting still
I have not read about anybody having the vibe while sitting at a light, everyone is saying driveshaft. How can my driveshaft or tires becausing this at a stop sign, or stop light? Also my vibe is worse at times then others. And it is not always constant. I picked my truck up Friday after they said it was done. The service manager told me to drive around the block to see if it ws fixed. Vibe was worse then when I brought it in. Service manger said no way I drove the truck myself and it was fine. So he goes with me same road no vibration we turn around and the vibration starts again, he says it must be the road. I told him if the truck wont drive without vibrating on a smooth road and this is normal I dont want it. I think Ford has been listening to Car & Driver and MotorTrend trying to make thier trucks more car like. I didnt and dont want a car I wanted a TRUCK!!!!!
I also have something wrong with my steering wheel, when I make a right hand turn sometimes the steering wheel feels like it is hitting something in mid turn and stops for a split second. Any one else heard or had this problem?
I'm calling Ford on Monday and after that I'm filing DSB papers and hopefully get my 2003 SuperCrew back.
One finally note I ordered 2 2005 Supercrews that are sitting at my dealers lot both have 4.6L and one of them has a vibration. I bought the 2004 because they had such big rebates now I know why they were offering so much money back.
I had a 2000 F-150 Supercab that had a vibe and Ford had to by it back, I hope this one goes as easy as that one did.
Most of what we see here and on other F150 forums is because people with problems specifically seek out help online sometimes...and so it's my position that you'll see WAY more people complaining about vibes on the net than there are actual people in the real world with the vibe. Think about it. Most F150 owners couldn't care less about this web site or any other truck site because they have no problems and they simply live their life with the truck being only a small part of that life - nothing to write home about on the net. Same goes for people that are very happy with and/or proud of their trucks...they are more likely to post here. The average F150 owner will never be heard from on these forums. Let's see, nearly 1 million F-150's sold each year, about 27 million F series all together (over the years) and just a couple thousand members on these forums? I think that says a lot.
I'm not saying people with real problems should be quiet. Not at all. I'm just saying it shouldn't be assumed or asserted that because 100 or so users on the forum have a vibration, that should translate into thousands and thousands of users out there having the vibe as well (who are remaining silent). It's just not so. If it were a huge scandal, we'd be seeing Dateline NBC stories about the F150 lemon by now.
We all know most mass produced products have issues with SOME of the products being produced. It's going to happen from time to time. Overall, I think Ford did a great job with this truck. Yes, some have problems and I hope Ford fixes those problems. Just be glad you don't have a piston-slapping GM
