97 ranger hub problem
I have a 97 ranger 3.o liter automatic trans with auto locking hubs. 52000 miles. yesterday i let a dealer test drive it for a possible trade in. When I went to drive it later in 2wd mode it made a very bad noise from the front end that sounded like a hub was locked and was turning the whole front differential by itself (a whining gear type noise) without the transfer case being engaged
Is this possible?

A lot of the automatic hubs have problems around 60,000 miles. This is pretty standard repair for the auto hubs. I would try taking it into 4 low and reversing about 25-50 ft. then take then put it back into 2wheel and reverse another 15 ft. this should pop the hub back into place.
