Mystery Trailer Plug

I pulled the Hitch and painted it, while I had it off I decided to clean up the Factory trialer wires with new loam, tape, and wire brackets. Well I found a plug on the left side with a #16 Blue and Red wire going to it. The wires broke off the connector. Does anyone know what the wires are for? Checked them with a meter, found no power with all the rear lights powered up. This plug is separate from the two trailer connectors in the center of the vehicle, and doesn't have the "parked plugs" like the two center plugs.

I would guess that a previous owner added that wire as a trailer battery charger. I did the same thing myself because the pin on the trailer plug could not take the 25 - 40 amps.

The plug is original as I'm the only owner. Its one of the round plugs with an orange center. It has four pins, but only two #16 wires to it, so its not big enough to carry more than a lighting load. Thought it might be tied to the dome light or hi-mount brake light, but is not.
