Old Dog learns new trick

First thing I'd do though is to check the brake line on the opposite side of the one locking up, have a helper depress the pedal and look at the rubber flex line, see if it is expanding..if it is, most of the pressure bias will go to the other side and act like only one brake is working.
If the line isn't expanding, then check the caliper and make sure it is squeezing the pads.
Huh?? Frozen calipers are a common occurance especially if the vehicle doesnt get used that often.
Ive also had them lock up on a frequently driven Taurus and Volvo. In those cases the rubber boot deterioated and water got in and caused corrosion (rust)
And this is nothing new either; it happened so many times to a 66 Corvette I had (the original dual piston nightmare) that I spent the money for aftermarket stainless steel calipers.
A collapsing flex hose is also fairly common but owners dont bother changing them until something drastic occurs. I never could figure out that logic. The same with flushing the fluid periodically.

I've never had a disc caliper stick (but notice I said it could happen), then again I've only had 15-20 cars over ther past 25 years with disc setups, so maybe I need more time to evaluate them.
I have had my share of drum wheel cylinders have issues, and have rebuilt too many to count.
I'd still bet caliper vs. wheel cylinder...calipers are less prone to issue....regardless, we both agree on the flex lines
