I have a 1994 Ranger Supercab 4-WD, 3.0 V-6, with a 5 speed manual transmission. Occasionally, when approaching a stop sign and downshifting, the transmission seems to get stuck and I can't get it into any gear or maybe just 4th. After a little while of trying to get it into gear it goes in. What's wrong?
i just recently had my tranny rebuilt.
it had been hanging in gear, been difficult to shift and finaly it started popping out of gear and was a real pain to shift between 4 and 5th ,felt like the gears were grinding sideways..
the main problem was all the bearings were worn out completely, this had caused a change in the tolerance between the gears and would cause it to hang and not shift ,also it would not want to come out of gear when it i had stopped.
