a motor question for all

what in all of your opinions would b better a 351M or 360 FE reliable good mpg and durable? i got a 360 and can get a 78 t-bird the whole car motor tranny everything for like 150-200$ i can make either motor go in my truck but im still wondering what one i should do?

It kind of depends on the relative condition of each engine. I owned a '74 F-100 with a 360 and 3-Speed on the column. I also now own the '77 you see in my signature.

In my experience only, with these two engines, the 360 that I owned was not a patch on what the 351M has been and is. Even approaching 305,000 original miles on the 351M. I was also around the 360 from new purchase. My dad bought both of these trucks new and I eventually purchased them from him.

One caveat in my experience with these two engines is that it's kind of like comparing apples and oranges as the 360 had points ignition while the 351M has DSII.

However, as I first stated, it all depends on current condition of each motor.


Still wish I had the '74 though....
