'98 Explorer repairs

'98 Explorer repairs
We just bought a '98 Explorer, and the garage came up with a list of mostly minor faults. I was wondering how difficult the following repairs are:
Valve cover leaking
Timing cover leaking coolant (gasket)
Ball joints (not bad yet, but boots are ripped)
After the check-up, check engine light came on. How do I reset it?
Driver side door lock button goes down (power) but you can still open the door from the outside. Is the actuator bad?(it's noisy)

How hard is it to write a $1500 check?
I take it you got the pushrod motor, not the sohc?
Valve cover gaskets are a pain due to all the junk in the way. Schedule an afternoon, two days if it rains.
Timing cover: Schedule a day.
Ball joints or CV Joints? Schedule a day in the shop unless you know how.
Check engine light. Pull the codes and fix what is making it glow. Check the gas cap and dip stick first.
Lock button. Door handles always break, lock buttons fail. I need to replace my drivers pdl button. Not sure how to remove the panel, but I'll be finding out.
How is your tranny? Recently rebuilt or replace I hope.
