Clutch noise after replacement
I have a '94 Ranger with a 4.0L V6 and a 5 speed manual transmission. Recently, at 98K miles, I had the clutch replaced. After a couple of weeks I noticed a grinding sound when the clutch is engaged (pedal up) -- like sand grinding. Mechanic says it's normal sound of the transmission working, and I didn't hear it before because of a foam insulator in between transmission and cabin. Mechanic says this foam usually falls out and he doesn't have replacement. Sounds like BS to me, but I'm no clutch expert. Anyone else have this problem?

While I am not an expert by any means, I have replaced a few clutches and I agree with your BS opinion. I'd take it to a Ford dealer and ask the service adviser to listen to it - there should be no charge for his assessment if you elect not to have them repair it.
