OK I just got back from a weekend trip to Pismo Beach. The best I got was 11.4 miles per gal. Point A to Point B (Freeway Only). I was NOT pulling a trailer. I had 2 quads in the bed of the truck that weight 400lbs each that it. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

When I check the rear/front brake there was no real drag. However the brake fluid is really dirty. I need to flush it and get all the sludge out of the brake line. I can see issue with that.<o></o>

The previous owner did put a leveling lift on the truck. I purchased the truck from a dealer that had the truck on consignment for the owner. I have asked did he have bigger tires on the truck. The answer was no. I ask if the owner had it programmed. The answer was no. I told the dealer this does not make sense my speed O is off by 10mph the gas miles not great @ all. <o></o>

<o></o>

I did notice that when I had to climb a hill/pass someone and start giving the truck a little more gas, it had a slight ping and no real gain in power. Then it would kick down & fly. Anyway I did notice a slight ping is that normal for the V10?? Do not seem to have that problem with the V8.<o></o>

You have a problem, the ping is not normal. This whole thing has got pretty convoluted. List what mods are on the truck please. Big tires ? Ken

Mods:

1. K&N FIPK- Had it on the truck when I purchased it.
2. Jardine Exhaust ????? single out 3" pipe
Jardine is out of California but I have never heared of them until I purchased the truck.
3. Leveling Lift by Rancho

That is it for mods.

Tire size is stock-LT265/75R 16
373 gears

Truck is a 2000 F250 SuperDuty V10 Lariate

The ping was like I did not have the right octain. I was running 87 from chevron. It had the slight ping under a load. Like climbing a hill. No loss in power. ??????

It is very hard to believe that the speedometer just got off on its own. Most people install leveling kits to increase tire size. I think the previous owner may not be telling the truth. The stock tire size actually overstates the mileage and speed meaning that you are actually going a little slower than stated. Many people on this forum noticed that the speedometer is more accurate with 285s than with 265s. There is something that the previous owner is not telling you.

How many RPMs are you running at 65? 70? 75? 80? That is something that we can compare our numbers to.

I think the dealer is getting a little tired of me. I keep calling him to see if he has spoken to the previous owner. The dealer said the owner did not run bigger tires or had it programmed. I keep telling him that someone is not telling me the full story. ??? I am starting to get very upset. All I want is for him to tell me what he did. The day I purchased my truck I told him to ask the owner what tires size did he run on this truck & if he had a programmer or did he have the truck programmed.

I will get the info for you on the RPM's. I wrote it down & left it in the truck.
Can someone tell me what RPM they run @ 65, 70, 75, 80?
I know I was @ 2000 rpm's slightly passed 70mph

2000rpms at 70 is close to stock, but not if that stated 70 is actually 60 like in the first post. I am around 1900-2000 rpms at 70mph (actual speed is 76) with 35s and 3.73 gears.

I check my speed with a GPS, I have found it very accurate, with no guess work.

OK here is what I got.

@ 2000rpm's = 74mph
@ 1500rpm's = 50mph

Does that make sense?

Regarding the slight ping when under load.

Is it possible that my MAF could not be adjusting my air fuel mix properly? (I did clean it with electric contact cleaner.) I have a K&N FIPK on the truck.

Run some super unleaded through it. I get a ping in my truck (2000 v-10 w/ 65k miles) every once in a while when running 87 octane. I just run a couple tanks of super unleaded through it and it's fine.

Your RPMs and speed are almost exactly the same as mine. Is that land speed? You mentioned that the truck showing 70 is only going 60. 2000RPMs should equal roughly what you have but not if you are actually going 60.

It is land speed. I ran along two trucks that showed that my mph was off around 10

Well after that I had my tranny flushed, radiator flushed, changed the oil, chaned fuel filter, cleaned my K&N filter, cleaned MAF, Fuel Injectors Cleaned, & reset the computer (Disconnected the ground cable with the lights on for 3hrs). Well I feel better that I am not off in my mph. Thanks for your help on this.

Know I just got back from a long trip to Pismo from Clovis & I only got 11.4mpg. I was hoping for a little better. I need to change the spark plugs maybe this will fix my issue. The truck has 110900 miles on it & I do not think it had a tune up. The tranny was really dirty so was the anti freeze. I am going to change them this weekend and see what happens. I am going to replace them with motorcraft plugs unless there is a spark plug that work better.
