yea im sure its in 4wd about .0000000000001 percent of the time. you wouldnt get very far with ratios that different. like swokc said, probably a show truck.

well it was my assumption that 2.5 tons came with something like 6.13 gears and there were no other choices...maybe i am wrong once again?!?! not to mention the front axle looks kinda low to the ground?!?!

and a 7" exhust? i have never heard of that on a light truck. hell our fire trucks only have 5" and i know there is more than a 7.3 under the hood of those.

2.5 tons come with 6.72 gears only (assuming they're Rockwells). This guy is high on crack. It's not a bad looking truck, just too bad the guy's a tool.

Assuming the guy really does have that gearing he's got it all backwards anyway. I was always under the assumption that if you have different gearing front n rear, that you'd want a teeny, tiny bit HIGHER gearing in front...so that when in 4 wheel drive, the front will pull the back end....his gearing would actually cause him to get stuck easier...if it worked very long at all. I think mud racers...the real light & fast ones... have higher gearing in front so that the front spins much faster and floats the frontend easier. I may be wrong there though.

Well I don't know what he has for axles but they aint rockies he doesn't have enough lift for them, and I agree my big truck has a alot bigger engine than the 7.3 and only runs 5in exhaust. and as far as the split in gear ratios I do it but if he is right his is backwards should be lower geared in the rear. So have to agreee with the high on crack comments
edit fordlover you type too fast.

I love a good laugh Probably one of those guys who like to spout off technical info to try and impress the ladies Too bad it doesn't impress us. Of course, I have 47' of lift on my truck, 7.68 rear gears, 1.98 fronts and 22" tires, so anything is possible

It doesn't matter. They have to be as close as possible... ie 3.50 3.54, 4.09, 4.11 etc etc.

the only reason to have different gears in the front is to run smaller / larger tires than on the back, or because some guy in a show truck is a tool.

no they don't have to be close, now as a disclaimer I am not defending this idiot, and his isn't done for this purpose, but I run 5.00, and 4.88 gears, and would probably go 5.13 in the rear with the 4.88 frts the only purpose is not to run different size tires but to make the fronts spin faster to help keep the truck in a straight line while racing, but this should only be done on a offroad only vehicle that will NEVER see pavement, and probably only on a race vehicle at that.

Ditto. But if you switch them around and put 5.13's in front and 4.88's in back it'll walk around on you and make a big old mess.
