Hard starting.
Whenever I am trying to start my 91 4x4 4.0 6, it cranks and cranks until you almost think the bateery is going to die, and then it starts. It does it almost every time. Any suggestions? I have taken it to 3 differant mechanics, all don't know. They say Ford has a test they can run

Hard starting.
Here's a simple test for you to try, not sure if it's the problem though, but it won't cost anything to do. Next time you go to start it, turn the key to the ON position (not START) until you hear the fuel pump stop. Then, turn the key to OFF. Then to ON until the pump stops again and OFF. Repeat this for about 5 times then try to start. If the engine starts normally, the check valve in the fuel pump is bad, which means the fuel pump needs to be replaced.
