I'm Near Pima and Wilmont myself. I'm just finishing up bringing a 73 F250 Highboy back to life. Needs a windshield and a few minor parts and adjustments and I have to get her through emissions ... can't wait to hit the trails!!!
My other 4X4 is a 72 F100 shortbed roller that still needs a lot of TLC to come back to life ...
My daily driver is a 95 F150 ...
Tucson has been my second home all my life, though I grew up in Texas in San Antonio and Austin.
I'm around the La Cholla/Ruthrauff area.
I've got an 85 F150 stepside I've been trying to put back together. It was in pretty good shape to begin with but I can't seem to get to the "ahead" part when I seem to be constantly fixing the old stuff that's dying off. At the moment I'm replacing the exhaust/intake manifold (4.9L 6Cyl). New exhaust manifolds are easy to find but intakes, that's a different animal. Had to settle for a used one from Alabama! I get this noise like a "vaccum whistle" at interstate speeds and sometimes around town only in the morning hours though. It's hard to diagnose because once the noise gets going I'll pull over, get the hood open, stick my head in there, it stops. I've checked everything and it seems to come back to the intake. I've replaced the gasket twice in 3.5 years. I think at high vaccum the gasket is acting like a reed. Anybody else experience this or any other ideas? I'm open...
you might try posting it in the repair forum under 85 f150's
but it sounds like either the intake bolts are not torqued properly or the intake has a very small defect
Thanks for the reply. I did post this in repair also. Just spreading it out a little. I checked the torque on the bolts and they were good. I've got another intake on it's way. It's a gamble though since it's used. Gotta do something.....
Thanks again.
