Will reflash correct acclerating delay?

I have a F-150 s/crew 5.4 with about 2200k miles and I have a prominent delay in at accelerations. It seems when I give it gas, my pedal goes down nearly and inch or more before and response then it seems to lunge. I am trying to get used to it, but as my wife and others drive it they all agree its anoying. It actually changed a neighbors mind from purchasing and 04' f-150 and he bought a Chevy. So will reflashing improve this and will warranty cover that complaint? thnx

I have a supercab 04 f150 with the 5.4v and it has 700 miles on it now. My biggest complaint was when you stomp the gas, it does nothing, then like 2 days later it kicks up and go's.... a little.

i was asking where did they hid all that engine?

I read these forums and decided the first thing to do was get a tuner for the computer. I decided to go with diablo sport, it cost me 350 with shipping included.

I used it for the 1st time yesterday and I can tell you that the truck drives completely different.

the big difference is the shift points, your engine will get everything out of first and second and the shifts are alot firmer. when i stomp the gas it doesnt shift until around 4-5k and you feel it.

the trucks still arent evo's but they feel much nicer after the tune. I used the diablo sport tune and I run 93 octane gas for it. everything installed perfect the very 1st try I had no problems. I also installed an airaid air intake and that was very easy as well. It changes the sound of the engine and performance wise I can say that the engine definately breaths 100 times better. now my problem is my engine is taking in alot more air than it can get rid of, so its time for headers and exhaust!

IMO a lot of the problem is the stupid overdrive locking in at 28 mph. Hit the button to lock out the overdrive unless you are highway cruising. I was ready to sell/ throw away/ junk my '02 Lariat until I started locking out the OD every time I got in it.

Yes, a reflash will help. An even better alternative is a Superchips tuner. It not only get rid of that nasty lag, but also give you more power, and better mpg (cant guarantee the last one, but it did for me, my fathers truck, and a few others off the top of my head).

I guess if you can get your dealer to reflash it, it may improve.

I went to my dealer this morning, and they said Ford was looking into making the throttle more responsive, but that unless Ford issues a TSB telling them to do a reflash when a customer complains about the throttle, they can't do it.

One of the early reviews of the new F150 noted the acceleration delay and said Ford built in the acceleration delay to minimize wheel spin and maximize traction.

I was told by a friend who builds and races cars that a firm shift point has no negative effect on the tranny. there is nothing in the diablo book that warns against firm shift. I think its the feel, of a strong firm shift that gives you a feeling like the truck is shifting hard and is fast, but it really has no effect on your performance. if that makes sense, i believe its all personal preference.

Thanks. I want to get a chip for mine but the firm shift kind of worried me. Cheack out my thread. It's on 16.5 inch rims.
