460 buildup
Hi, I have an 83 F-150 with a 460 in it. Sadly it is falling apart on me. I bought the truck about 2 years ago with the motor being rebuilt 5 years ago now. The oil pan leaks, the head gasket just went on it and the intake leaks. since I am having all these problems I figure i might as well rip it out and solve all my problems now. The previous owner told me it was bored .030 over and now I am looking to make this motor bigger and more powerfull. I was looking at some magazines and saw I could bore it up in the 600's but that's insane. I was thinking to 533 but I was wondering who or where they might sell the parts to build the motor up that big. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them about any other choice or options for me. I don't have my mind set on any way either. Thanks, Andy M

How much you wantin to spend? I ask, because SIGNIFICANT gains can be aquired with some head work, a different cam, and an intake. All depends on how much you want to spend, both on the engine, and on fuel...

you really dont need to spend alot to get alot from a 460, put in some higher comp pistons, to go with the much bigger cam. you can have some head work done and tada you get 500 horse,depending on what you need it for sometimes a special grind cam works best. i guess you could buy a 521 stroker kit,
