Anyone have a problem with the brake rotor lug holes wallowing out? Noticed when coming to a complete stop. Could feel the rotor on the left front move. Checked and the holes are enlarged. Aluminum wheel is fine. Rotors replaced 10K ago.
Thanks for the quick response Ron. I'm really inquiring for a friend of mine. We both drive Fords and when he told me about it, I'd never heard of the problem before. I suggested that there was a flaw with the parts; i.e. oversize lug holes. Genuine ford parts so hopefully quality.
BTW he's a pretty good wrench. Very meticulous. Kinda hard to screw them up with a 8 bolt pattern and nothing is wrong with the aluminum wheel.
I'll post the cause and effect when we figure it all out.
Wow! I would sure think that if the rotors were loose enough to wobble around and wear, the wheels would have too! Good thing nothing fell off! If he ends up having to buy new rotors, I would suggest These
Hey Lariatbob, nice rotors!!!! Did you notice a big difference with them on. It looks like they would stop better - I especially like the "no warping" and the slits for cooling. I have a 99 with the dreaded brake pull. Can I ask what the cost of those rotors are for a pair? Thanks, Nate.
After quite a bit of useage, I have no warpage, and they stop better. Well worth it. I paid $350 for the rotors and the pads. Not too bad, considering stock aftermarket replacements with pads would have been about $250. This is my 3rd Ford truck, and I have had repeat warpage on all of them, this time it seems to be gone for good. (knock on wood). Next summer's camping trips pulling my trailer will really tell the tale.....
lariatbob, nice looking brake job. i did similar rotors on my SD, bought them through NAPA. i believe i paid a little less than $300 for both rotors and ceramic pads. they seem to make quite a difference. of course, yours looks a lot better than mine !
i have seen wheels do what you talk about, because the lugs were loose, but cant imagine how that could happen to just the rotors, or at all, they are cast metal ... is there any damage to the studs showing that it was beating the holes open on the rotor with the studs?

Can you get those without the Canada stamp on them? I wouldn't want my friends to laugh at me.

No damage to studs. Ford is going to replace them free of charge even though they didn't install. More to follow.
