Engine Identification
Our shop got a ford motor donated to us, the only problem is that we cannot identify it. My teachers think it is a 5.7, but i am pretty sure it is a 5.4. It is dual overhead cam, modular motor. Is there anyway i can identify it, using the codes on the motor or any other way. Thanks

Is it fully assembled? The build data is located on the driverside (or right hand as you look at it from the water pump) valve cover. THere are build codes on it and one piece of info is the displacement.
If it is a Ford overhad cam V-8 then it's not a 5.7. You either have a 5.4 or 4.6... or even a 427. The 427 OHC is rare, and hasn't been manufactured in 35 years.
