I found this forum when I was doing some research about replacing my current vehicle, and it is great. I have a bit of a issue right now, trying to figure out what I want to get.
Currently I have 2 vehicles, a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac... still making payments on that, and out of warrantee. My other car is a 1987 Porsche 944. I was thinking of replacing the Sport Trac... I like it, comfortable, 4x4 for the snow, reliable... but I want to be able to haul more. So I was looking at getting a new F150 (love the King Ranch). Problem is, now I am in love with new Mustang. Obviously that would be a great car to replace the Porsche with, but then I would have payments on both the Sport Trac and a new Mustang, and that's just not possible. If I traded in the Sport Trac, I would then have the Porsche and the Mustang, which are too similar, and redundant. So I sell the Porsche too... and then only have a Mustang.... but then no truck for mulch, hauling, or to move more than a person or two.
I know the practical decision is to trade the Sport Trac for a F150 and then get the mustang later, but I am never practical... cars and trucks are about passion right?
Someone convince me to get rid of the Porsche and the Sport Trac and get the Mustang. I can get the truck again later after I pay off the Pony car, right?
i am counting down teh months till my 2002 and 1997 F150's are paid off (2 and a half years left) when that happens i am going to get a new mustang. the cobras will be out by then and all the bugs should be worked out of them. also the saleen's, and roush cars will be out and maybe even the lightning. oh no there i go its going to be a hard choice.
as for your problem get rid of both vehicles and get a new stang and a older truck. thats what i did. i turned my 2002 F150 into a toy (see gallery) and bought my grandpas 1997 F150 to haul and tow things. my grandpa got a 2004 F150.
Why not sell them both, buy the mustang, and get a used truck for work..why does it have to be the newer F-150? Having both would be great....but it depends on which one you'd rather have, the new truck or the new mustang....
I paid $800 for my 89' and $10,000 for my F-150 2 1/2 years ago. A used F-150 with like, 90-100k on it, go for cheap and they're pretty reliable, easy and cheap to fix as well. Check out used vehicles as an option...
