Question 4x4 and A/C Problems

Both the 4x4 and A/C quit working at the same time. Neither activate when the switches are pushed. I was told by a coworker that there is a module on the front fender well, that controls both of these items, and that there is probably a problem with that module. That sounds kind of strange, but thought I would run it by somebody out there, and see if they can help me. I have read the threads with the fix for the 4x4 shift motor, but want to know if these two problems can be related as told by coworker, and what the fix would be. Thanks!!

I can't think of what "module" he would be thinking of. On 2nd gen Explorers, the GEM controls most things that aren't under control of the EEC-V computer, but 1st gens aren't that way. The transfer case shift motor has a computer in the rear, and the AC is basically just wired in. They might share a fuse (check the power distribution box), or it just might be a common wire (get a wiring diagram). Maybe even a bad ground. Maybe just coincidence that the two stopped working at the same time.
