I would recommend going to www.firestone.com. And then click on the button that says "For Consumers" in the upper left portion of the page. They have all the info you need to see if your tires have been recalled. There is a certain code on the tire to look for, and the web-site will tell you exactly where to look. They do have the Wildernes AT tires listed there on recall. So take a look at the site.. Hope this helps
are your tires the ones that originally came with truck? because i have the same truck (2wd, '98 XLT) and it came with the wilderness HT's which were never recalled (they're still garbage, but that's another story). plus, 2wd's came standard with P225's, not the P235's involved in the recall. hope this helps-lc
Well have you checked the link on this site yet? That's how I found out about exactly which vehicles and tires were recalled. Also, you want to find out about the spare being changed as well if it is the original Firestone.
i had been surfing around looking at some ford stuff and hit the ford site , saw a banner stating "IF YOU HAVE WILDERNESS AT TIRES ON YOUR FORD TRUCK ,FORD WANTS THEM OFF".
so i called the local ford dealer and he said all i needed was an appiontment to change the tires,no cost..!!
i had two tires that i was going to replace before winter and thought i might have to pay something for worn tires,NOT SO!!
i got all four tires changed and balanced for nothing ,not even a signature.
all they did was record the vin and that was it.
i have 265 75 r15 factory spec.
they replaced with goodyear wranglers.
they got my loyalty back good..
I tell you what. I have a '98 Ranger that I got (new to me) in Feb.
2001 and when I got it the tires that were on it were not the factory
Firestones. I have done some performance mods and on another part of
this fourm I said that I got to 92 mph before mods and 97 mph after
mods, (see speed limter problem). I could not have asked for better
tires for what came on the truck when I got it. They have a 50,000
mile replacement warranty and I am impressed that the tires only had
about 1,100 miles on them when I got it. I am sure that the recall is
what led the truck to be traded to the lot I got it from in the first
place. Even still I am very happy w/ the ride, cornering, handling
and speed they handle in wet or dry conditions.
They are the Firestone Firehawk SS20 series size 225/70/14
