History channel has this show where two teams build cars in 2 days and drag race them for pink slips. They usually build identical cars, but this week they built a '74 Ranchero vs a 72 El Camino. They put what they called a '400M' crate motor in the 'chero with 351C heads, Holley racing 4-bbl, MSD ignition, headers and dual exhaust. They were clearly all Chevy guys, as everyone was whining about how hard it was to put the 400 together. The El Camino won 2 of 3 1/4 mile drag races, but it could easily have been the driver or just that the chevy had positraction...

Reason: typos
I saw that last night and I thought is was cool and I agree they did alot of whining about Ford stuff I think it was just laziness any one of us could have put that together faster than what they did. Where do we buy one of those crate motors?
I saw that last night. I think the posi made a big difference. Did you see the way the "el" got off the line. The stance of the vehicles were difference also. It seemed that the "cheo" had to much weight going to the front with the back end lifted. That was the case in the last race when the "cheo" lit up the one wheel wonder.
The other thing I thought why didn't they build a 390? I know that I have ate a lot of chevy's with mine with a one wheel wonder. I guess you need to know how to drive them to win!!!
A 400 "crate motor" was probably a cheapo rebuild from Oreilley or something. They should get Ford people to work on the Ford. Having posi in one vehicle and not the other was not a fair test.
yeah, it's too bad that such media exposure for our beloved 335 engines has to be so biased that anyone watching will be likely to think they are junk. very sad, really...
