Hey, On my 86 F250, the seat is realy low. when i sit in there i can barely see over the hood, and i think it would be alot nicer if i was up another inch or 2. I'm 5-10, Would swaping to a newer seat( like a 96) be higher? my seat is prety beat up under the seat cover.
I put a seat out of a 94 F-series in my old 84 and it measuered 1 1/2" higher. All that height was the difference between busted springs and worn out/gone cushioning. But it sure rode nice.
I think you're losing height from the worn out seat.
I'm the same height as you, and have a clear view of the hood.
When I first got my truck, I wasn't comfortable with the seatback angle so I put about half an inch of washers under the front mounting bolts....much better.
My wife says I was born a "cruiser", cause I adjust my power seat on my 78 Grand Prix angled back all the way.....just like sitting in your easy chair.
