I just had my tranny rebuilt with a billet tc,valve body, heavy clutches and all the other gizmo's 3 monts ago and now my trans temp hit 250 not pulling just driving on the freeway coming home??? Then when it shifts in to OD a "grinding" noise is happening???

I don't think you should have seen temps of 250 degrees empty it sounds like you may have a blockage in your oil cooling system. Did you get a warranty with your tranny? I would be running back to the tranny shop with the grinding noises because before you know it you could ruin your new TC and tranny in a hurry with noises and temps like you are seeing.

The one thing about Fjords (yes, I'm Norweijan) is their tranny's. NEVER use Overdrive unless you're on the highway and NOT on an incline. Now since you just had it rebuilt, did they blow out the coolant lines, did they replace the converter? I'm sure they did everything right, so as not to get more from a paying customer (yes, I'm being sarcastic!). As a kid, I watched my father go through numerous problems with a Chevy TH350, now these are the pillar of chevy auto's, if you have one problem with them, then shame on Chevy. If you have 2 problems with them, then shame on you for going back to the same shop! There's either a problem with your driving habits, a problem with that tranny case or the trans shop, you figure it out!

I took it back to the tranny shop right away! He has drove it around the block only to test it. I told him to get out on the highway and it should heat up and grind for him..So we will see? As far as not using OD all I drive is the highways in Phx AZ (no hills) it's as flat of ground as you can get, out of OD at 65mph I am at 2200rpm
and no mileage. My trans temp in it when in the Az summer 115-120 f outside idleing in traffic or normal driving was never more than 170-180 on the guage. I pulled my 30' toy hauler up some big hills last summer hottest the guage read was 200. Hope this tranny guy will stand behind his work???

Have him check or replace the bypass tube that goes between the inlet and outlet ports on the transmission for the external cooler. They can stick open and let all of the fluid bypass the cooler. I had this happen before on a truck. Not sure about the grinding when it shifts into OD something he'll have to check internally.
