They can be different. Some are injected, some are carberetted. Some use different carbs, and may have either a different spacer/mounting plate, or different carb mount altogether, depending. Best to find one close to the year you have, and with the same/similar carb on it, as well as emissions specs.
I was just wondering because I am looking into whether or not I can use an older non emissions carb on my 83. Otherwise I might have to try plugging the lines myself.
Small differences in the way the EGR pipe is routed. The carb fits either manifold so dont waste your money on an older more likely to be warped intake unless its one of the rare edelbrock's floating around.
I am still running the smog intake on my 84 300 six. I switched over to EFI exhaust manifolds/downpipes, which flow mucho better than stock and a lot cheaper than headers; also they don't rust out like headers. I cut the heat tube out that ran from the exh. to the EGR block on the intake, I then crimped and welded the end of the pipe shut. I made a block off plate so I can delete the EGR block. In the near future I plan to install a Holley 2300 350 CFM 2bbl carb, with the use of a Clifford 2bbl to stock manifold adapter plate. Some day I would love to get the Offenhauser aluminum 4bbl intake.
