Code 542 Fuel Pump Circuit Failure
Two days ago it was very cold out in the morning. Record lows. Anyway, on the drive to work the CEL came on and off a few times and then that evening on the way home it came on and stayed on. I checked the codes and got the following: 327, 328, 332 and 542. I had the 327 and 328 a couple weeks ago and they went away with a tune up (plugs, wires, cap and rotor) but the 332 and 542 were new. The 327-332 are all EGR related and the 542 is a "Fuel Pump Circuit Failure." I cleared the codes that night and didn't get anything again until this morning (very cold again). The CEL came on intermittently a couple times this morning as I began driving until it warmed up. Then I get no light. My truck runs fine. I had an emissions done on it yesterday and the exhaust was very clean. So I'm stumped. I'm guessing that the fuel pump circult failure just means that no reading was getting back to the computer for that brief moment. My truck runs great. My guess on the EGR codes is that the EGR parts are old and susceptible to cold. Anybody been through this and have anything to add?
