I have a 1978 F-150 4x4 with a 10k mile 400 engine and a fresh O/H C6. The drive shaft has just been O/H. I am experiencing a vibration starting at 35 mph an by 65 mph it becomes almost a rumble. If I were to guess I would sware it was the drive shaft but I just change the double cardon joints and even the centering yoke and the vibratin remains the same. Does anybody have any ideas........please!
id say if your 100% its not your tires(unbalanced or busted belt), and u just changed your driveshaft.......maybe check your brake drums, if they are old maybe they are out of balance........or even a bent rim???hit any curbs lately?? dont take much to knock a steel rim out of wack......
I know this will sound crazy..... (but it happens all the time).... make sure the place that balanced your wheels and tires didn't actually balance your "dirt" on the wheels.
Look on the back side of the wheel...... Is there dirt and/or dried mud? Was it there when the wheels got balanced? Then they improperly balanced the wheels and every time you either clean off or add mud and dirt you'll throw the balance off at highway speeds.
This may not be the problem, but it's easy to rule out.
