air suspension troubles

I have a 97 F250 light duty equipped with air suspension in rear only. Have a constant check suspension light on. Rear of truck is leaning to driver side (more air in passenger side air spring). The compressor has not come on since check susp. light came on. Checked all fuses and were OK. Did visual check of all wires at compressor and sesnors and all seemed to look OK. Check susp. lite stays on whether sysem switch under the dash is on or off. The compressor did seem a little noisier than normal lately, especially compared to one in my 2001 Expedition. Both air springs have been replaced once, about 50k miles (3 1/2 years ago).

Is there a way to rule out whether the compressor is bad (put 12V directly to leads)?? Is there a relay that could be bad? Is the more likely scenario a bad sensor? Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

If all of your related fuses and relay's check out, then you might be looking at a ride height sensor or possibly a whole unit as the culprit. Have you had the codes pulled for the light yet? That should help point you in the right direction.
