You're Gonna Love It!
My first truck was a 1984 F-150 with a straight six, top-shifter overdrive, power steering, and power disc brakes.
It now has over 300,000 miles on it. The rebuilt engine has 100,000 miles. I still love this old baby.
Have only recently gotten a 1983 F-150 with everything that the '84 does not have... 351W V8, cruise, C6 automatic, A/C, etc. Its a big steroid baby, and I hope that it can give me at least half the good service that I have gotten out of my '84.

not a good 1st truck unless you like to wrench. The motor is solid, but the electronic carbs can cause some (read -- alot) of headaches. The tranny might be good, you'll have to drive it to find out. most 18+ year old truck will need work.
However, I am the proud owner of 3 fords (two 85s and an 84).
