Gas Mileage

I own a 98 Ranger that has a 3.0 engine. In the last month it has lost 2 MPG. I have installed a new K+N air filter, a new wire set and it has not improved. The spark plugs are new so I don't think they are causing the problem. Any ideas on what I should change next?
Thank You for your help.

Russ

Do you live in an area of the country where oxygenated fuel in used in the winter months???

Also, how many miles are on your truck? Other than the K&N, do you have any other mods? Check engine light?

Please advise. Thanks!!!:-)

It might be the fuel, If you are in an air polution area they oxygenate the fuel. This means it has less octaine. Do not add any fuel treatment or it will go down even more.

Yup, oxygenated fuel is most likely the culprit. BUT, it may not be a bad idea to change out the O2 sensors as a part of your tune-up. They really should be changed out at 50,000 miles. I do not know how many are on the '98, but my '99 has 3.

It's a worthy thing to do.
