another lonesome ford guy with a question

Hello all, just a quick introduction from another ford enthusiast. I recently found y'alls site and it is really nice. It would've helped me a lot when I had my 1974 ford several years ago !! I still can't believe I sold it.
I feel sort of weird confessing this to you all but I guess since it is sort of a "family" here I should be OK...

I don't even have a ford truck right now (unless you count my brothers 1994 F150 which i borrow a lot) nor do I have any good prospects!!!

Still trying to decide if I want to go back to the 1973-79 models or go further back to the 1968-1972 years. Do you guys have any preferences in this department?...hehehehe. Seriously, I'd like to know your opinions.

Anyway, good meeting you all.
tony

Welcome to the great site of FTE! As for your question, I think you'll get a totally mixed review on which is everyone's favorite year trucks to work on and to restore, etc. My suggestion is to just look around the various forums, which are many, and read for yourself. You WILL find plenty of love for each model here. Hey...you aren't lonely anymore...just keep coming back and enjoy yourself!

I personally like the 76 and 77 models. They just seem to have a better character.

those 1976 and 77s are sweet

I just took the opportunity to look at the 1976-1977 model trucks in the galleries section here. Man,those trucks are really sweet!!! I just realized those are probably the ones that I have stuck in my memory when I think of ford trucks-only I didn't know it before.
Still haven't figured out the differences between a 1976/77 f100 from f150 though.

I think the oldest truck we have out in the yard is a '59 Ford cabover dump truck. Still in service and used at least weekly. It has had many hydraulic repairs but has the original engine. I think we did a valve job on it once - anyway it has less than 100k miles. Talk about character.....
