what trans do i have
The truck: 96 mazda B2300, says 4 speed w/OD to be technical, 4 cyl.
I'm almost certain it is the Mazda M50D Trans. I just need to know if it is the R-1 or R-2. How do i tell?
I am asking this because i have a leak and heard that the r-2's have plugs that dry up and leak. However, my leak seams to be coming from the driveshaft connection area.
Any help is appreciated.

You have a 5 speed tranny. A 4 speed with od would be just that, a 4 speed with an OD on the tailshaft. A pet peeve of mine. Both exist.
