Smile new guy / stacks ?

hey guys (and gals). i'm fairly new to the site and wanted to say hey. i also wanted to see if anyone has any new feedback on stack systems. i just finished reading some posts so i have quite a bit to go on. my biggest concern is going to be rain getting in the system. i would prefer not to have drain holes, so i was thinking about rain flappers, mounted on straight cut stacks. any pros/cons using these ? any other advice on building my system ? i posted a few pics in my gallery, she's nothin special but she's exactly what i wanted. bought her on ebay last year, down in TX. flew in and drove home ! loving her ever since. thanks in advance.

Cons to flapprs are they are noisy(clang clang clang) when the enine is idling. You could also do a turnout for the tips. They are not as good at stopping the rain as flappers but as long as the wind doesn't blow the rain into them they work pretty well.

I have turn out stacks on my dually. I just keep coffee cans in the tool box and put them on if I think it's going to rain. I catch alot of crap from people at work...."Nice coffee cans". They are all just jealous. When I'm at home I just park under the car port. Sure it's a pain to take them off and on when it's raining on you. But it's not enough to wipe the grin off my face when I'm mashin' on it watchin' the smoke from the rear view. I love my stacks, I wish I had done them sooner. You can see them in my gallery. But IMO flappers are cool too. I even like the clank clank clank at idle. Do it man, you won't be sorry.

stacks

i've seen quite a few guys that have rigs with slash or straight tips doing the coffee can trick. unfortunately i do not have a carport or garage right now, so i would have to do that when parked. i was also thinking about the clank at idle of the flappers. i would like it, not sure about the neighbors !

Ditto to what RubberDuck said!!

I have had SO many people tell my that I should get the flappers - but I think that would REALLY take away from the stacks. Not to mention the tapping noise would drive me absolutely bonkers. I'm perfectly fine with putting my caps on when it's raining!

I must say that until I saw CatMan's rig with stacks on it, I only liked stacks on a dually. Cat made me a believer.....

i really would prefer the exact setup that you have, but like i said, i am leary. do you ever have problems driving it in the rain, and having the water build up. i just don't want to give my truck soot showers everytime it rains ! thanks.

I had flat tops stealth stacks (all black) befor the tip outs and all I had to do was drill and 1/8 inch hole in the bottom of the 90 that truns to the front under the truck and any water that in ran, ran right out. Now snow would be more to worry about but notfor because if it snows here we are all in trouble

thanks Lagerhead, i think i will end up doing that. CAT_man has me sold on the slashcuts that i originally wanted and a small drain hole would probably be enough to seal the deal. thanks.
