Replacement parts might be a similar price to a 302/351, but in general when building each motor to become higher in performance the V-8s are cheaper. Thats all I was trying to say from before
Well...kinda, I was thinking performance parts when I typed my first post...you can use some 302/351w parts for a performance built I-6, so the cost is the same there. Most of the large parts like crank and rods are plenty strong as they are, head work would cost about the same be it I-6 or v-8, there are other options and if you think about it, not really any more expensive than anything else. Who knows? later
There are waaaaaayyyy more aftermarket bolt on performance parts available for a 302 than a 300 as mentioned above, alot of the 5.0 Mustang parts will work with little to no modifiaction. On another note nothing sounds like a tricked out 302 , well almost.
Bolt on is cheaper and more accessible for the 302. Hands down. How many sites can you pull, magazines open, etc with parts for the 300?
Bolt ons aren't cheaper, if you know where to look.
I agree there are more aftermarket parts, which means?
I know of at least 5 sites I can get all the information I will ever need to know about the inline six. I know of one catalog specific to the six and one magazine. Parts are made by the majority of the well known companies, specific to the inline six, you just have to ask. Like I mentioned before, if you know your goal, there are cost effective ways to get there, the idea that the parts cost more isn't entirely accurate.

I will agree there are more aftermarket parts for the SBF, what does that mean? There are only so many parts on an engine, just because there are many variations of each doesn't necassarily mean its better.
Actually I agree, a v-8 has a better sound...I prefer a BB any day.
