epoxy ? urethane ?
My cab has been blasted, cleaned and two coats of Zero rust , recoated where the welding and gringind was done. Next Scratch up the Zero rust, Then do I coat with epoxy, then body filler, then re coat epoxy ? Is epoxy good for final block sanding ? Or do you finish off with a urethane med build primer for blocking out ?
Thanks
Mike
My cab is completely spray coated with Zero rust now.
Looking for the steps to apply Filler, epoxy, and finish block sanding
Aekisu, I'm happy that you replied, I was in the autobody buisness for years, but that was years ago, Still tring to catch up with the new tech. You seem to have handle on it.
Thanks
Mike
Thanks Mike although I'm not sure if anyone truly has a handle on all the different processes.
Normally all I apply ZR to, are areas like undercarriage, insides of door, and other locations where no additional topcoats will be applied. On a couple of occassions, I have used ZR to topcoat filler, prior to the vehicle being painted. That seemed to work okay.
My normal procedure is to apply epoxy primer, over bare steel. Then my filler work is done and it is covered with another coat of epoxy primer. Any additional paint (filler primer, topcoat, & etc.) is applied over the epoxy primer.
Personally, on any areas that needed filler work, I would remove the ZR before applying the filler.
I don't have the 'offical' answer to your ZR/filler question though. Send me some private email and I will put you in touch with a ZR rep I know.

system approach. Figure out what type of final coat or
top coat you want and work back to what the manufacturer
recommends for their system. If you don't it is just a guess
as to what is going to work with what. Good Luck!
