I was just driving around and I passed this huge John Deere dealer and that had this old lookin White truck for sale. I then saw another one and i think its called a cushman. Who makes this truck. It so small its tires are almost as small as my ATV tires. its bed is big put it isnt deep at all. It doest look like it could tow or carry anything that big. What is this Thing?
Cushman trucksters. They're cool little trucks. Well, they're not really a truck at all, but they're cool.
I used to work at a golf course, and we used them for hauling all kinds of crap around. The best part was the three on the tree tranny they used. It had an honest-to-goodness clutch pedal on the floor.
Now, I see them all over the place. Police departments in cities use them for parking enforcement people. Most stadiums and arenas have a couple, too. They come in handy for all kinds of things.
Cushman also made a trackster. Little snowcat looking thing. Some for sale on EBay from time to time. Had a bad habit of rolling over backward (ouch) on steep inclines or so I'm told.
Harley engines? If so, it isn't the one found in the bikes. Neither Cushman nor HD mention anything about it on their sites. HD doesn't even brag about making bomb casings, if they are still doing that....
A company I worked for had a Cushman for the "guards" at the "guard shack" to zip up to the main building. It was only a 5 minute walk. The one we had was such a pile, you were guaranteed to get where you were going only if you walked. Otherwise, you were guaranteed to stay dry if you stayed put.
does anyone know if they have automatic transmission option. and can I buy a new one? cause for some reason it looks like itd be fun to have...itd remind me of my ole 1985 Nissan Pickup sorta
Go look at their site, posted above. They probably have auto trannys, but these look like off-road service vehicles. Possible street legal for low speed areas, but in no way similar in size and capacity to an '85 Nissan, no matter how dainty one might think those are.
those 85 nissan pickups were like mules i mean we used to overload it with bolders go over this huge bridge practicaly flooring it to get over it and then down this really bad dirt road and it lasted for like 20 years of abuse no mods what so ever. no bed liner. didnt have 4 wheel drive or anything
Thinking back to that old Cushman my former employer had, it was powered by a single cylinder Honda engine, with an electric starter and centrifugal clutch. It had an amber roto-light on the roof, and electric wipers. Seated 2, and had a "box" that could be converted to a flat deck something like a Volkswagen Vanagon truck would. What a piece that thing was.
Cushman makes (made?) a lot of small industrial vehicles. Just the ticket to get from one end of a large factory to the other if you have something (i.e. tools) to carry. Most of the ones I have driven or seen are battery powered, but they make gas/propane powered ones also. Every single one of them has been woefully neglected because people come to depend on them so much they won't give them up for a few hours or a day for regular maintenance.
I have never seen one with a cab like the one in the second link above, but the lower bodywork is the typical checkerplate cockpit.
