I bought a one owner 93 ranger 4X4, 4.0L 5 speed with a 115,000 miles back in early September. The truck had no shifting problems until recently when the cold weather hit here in Wisconsin.
I first noticed the point at which the clutch engaged varied quite a bit, sometimes near the beginning of the travel other times near the end. Next, it became difficult to get the truck into first or at times reverse. The only thing that seems to allow you to get it into gear w/o grinding is to pump the clutch pedal several times.
The truck does not seem to be leaking any clutch fluid. My 16 year old once overfilled the clutch fluid and recently left the cap off completely. The clutch I know is original, but does not seem to drag or slip.
The clutch may have some air in the hydraulic systems and in need of bleeding, or the clutch master cylinder may be bypassing internally and need replacement.
