ok i know it aint a truck... but it is a ford! anyway i've got a 1995 windstar and the cresent shaped "gear" that drives the window up and down has some teeth stripped. would anyone know where i could getone and how easy would this be to fix? the man problem started last year when the weld that holds the "gear" to the arm broke and the gear fell off. welll i tig'ed er back on and it worked for about 2 weeks then started stripping teeth. beats me... the dealership parts department has been no help on this. supposedly there is no number for the "gear" or arm that holds it...?
thanks all
Best I can say is to talk to your friendly nieghborhood junkyard. and use that as a chance to check all the different fords to to see what hs the same system and sizes for future refrence for other window parts
good luck
Are your windows electric or manual? The part you need is the window regulator. If you have electric windows, then check to see if it's the motor that the teeth are stripped on or the actual regulator. I've done a few of these and sometimes you can get the motor by itself instead of the whole regulator, which would be a bit cheaper.
They're usually pretty easy to change out, also.
Good Luck.
found out the bad news, ford has the entire window kit availible for 179.00 whick includes the window motor attached to the regulator,(not the glass). the motor teeth are still good the regulator disk has the teeth in spots stripped out, wore down, whatever, cheap steel i guess. i even tried to put a few tig tack marks on the top of the teeth and dremel them down to size, that seems to work but i dont know exactly how reliable it is only putting a drip on 2 or 3 teeth here and 2 or 3 there... but i cant complain about the old girl... so far 188,000 miles and no troubles till now with this window thing...thanks for the help and i'll hit up the junkyard this weekend in the snow mabey...ha ha and let you guys know if anything is interchangeable on these regulators, motors, etc. for these windstars.
